Frequently Asked Questions
- What could be the benefit to Microsoft technologies?
Adding fuzzy search to SQL Server engine (pure theoretically to the moment)
- What is fuzzy logic?
Natural language is not easily translated into the absolute terms of 0 and 1 which make up the digital world. The mapping between human language and computer systems will involve fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a superset of conventional (Boolean) logic that has been extended to handle the concept of partial truth -- truth values between "completely true" and "completely false". It was introduced by Dr. Lotfi Zadeh (Zadeh 1965) of UC/Berkeley in the 1960's as a means to model the uncertainty of natural language.
More info on fuzzy logic is available at http://www.seattlerobotics.org/encoder/mar98/fuz/flindex.html
or in the book "Neuro-Fuzzy and Soft Computing" by J.-S. Jang, C.-T. Sun, E.Mizutani
- What applications can be used with ESSE?
See "project description" in "project use" section.
- Why web-services and GRID?
We think it is the most promising trend in the development of access methods for distributed scientific data sources, because of language and applications interoperability. Besides, GRID provides reasonably good protection.
- What users is the project aimed at?
The project is aimed at users, working with web-browsers. It can be used as well by other applications through web-services and grid-services.
- How can we add a reference to ESSE project when using its data and services?
You can add our banner to your web-page
ESSE banner 38x80px
ESSE banner 47x100px
ESSE banner 56x1120px
